Turning the Corner

Turning the Corner recounts the first semester back at school after two years of distance learning in Pandemic for an eleven-year-old Chinese American girl.

As Ruozhen navigates her last few months of elementary school, she must find her place in a school community that can sometimes be gossipy and cliquish.

Teetering on the brink of middle school, she is faced with the challenges that come from cultural differences, the awkwardness of the onset of puberty, and the anxiety of trying to live up to her mother’s and her own high expectations.
